Adult paint by numbers
Hi, Friends!
I mentioned this is the last post that I like to do paint by numbers. About 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. With having anxiety, it's hard for me to be in the present. I am constantly thinking and planning about the future. I try to process all the what if' in the future and how I will handle them if they go wrong. I do this, instead of living in the present.
One thing that helps my brain, is staying busy. If I can just focus on what I need to be done that very minute, I don't get so anxious. About two years ago, it was the middle of winter. This is when it gets dark at about 5 and you seem to be stuck in your house a lot more. I realized that I needed a hobby and badly! This is when I stumbled upon adult paint by numbers. I thought I would give this a try. The first one came and I sat down that night to do it. I fell instantly in love.
Painting let my mind escape. I realized how relaxed I felt while being absorbed into my painting. Right now, I am crazy busy, but I can't wait to pick up my paintbrush again to finish one of my curtain paint by numbers.
So, my friends, if you are suffering from mental illness as well, maybe you could give this a shot to help you. Or find a new hobby. I know it has helped me immensely.

Hi, I'm Melanie (AKA, MEL)
Hey, ya'll! I made this blog to show you little pieces of my life. Click the video below to find out a bit more about me.
If you happened to click on that little video, you will find that I am a widow with a beautiful 10-year-old girl. I am a pretty busy Mom. I'm currently going to school and working. When I'm not busy doing homework and catching up on housework, I LOVE to bake! I recently was asked by my brother and new sister-in-law to make a cake for their wedding day! Now, by no means am I a pro. I usually just find a cake that interests me on Pinterest and go from there. A wedding cake was way out of my comfort zone! All in all, I think it turned out pretty good.
Another thing I love to do is adult paint by numbers! I recently found out about them and highly enjoy doing them. While painting, I have found that it helps me relax. Here is a picture of one I recently completed. I have completed a handful and recently did some for our little neighbor girls, they were really excited to receive them. Just the other day I found through one company, you can upload your own photos and they will turn them into a paint by number. I just ordered one for someone (Shhhh, It's a secret.) I plan on surprising them with it for Christmas.
I also love the outdoors. For my birthday last August, I made one of my friends go hiking with me. I have found a love for hiking. Something about the fresh air and fragrant trees warms my soul. Not to mention the feeling of accomplishment you receive when you get to the endpoint of the hike is very rewarding. Our endpoint was a pretty little waterfall. It was nice to sit for a minute and enjoy listening to the rushing water. It's nice to get out and explore, especially when this scenery is provided just minutes away from you. Here are a couple shots from our hike.
